The word "AERA" (Air) became a real symbol during the war of 1940.
In each of the attacks, our soldiers shouted "AERA",
that is, "get over them", and threw themselves into the battle.
The roots of "AERA" go back to the siege of Ioannina (1912-1913) where the enemy bullets went in the air without hitting their target.
In each such a failed shot, our soldiers - but most of all our legendary tsoliades - all shouted "AERA" together, thereby wishing to express their joy of hostile failure.
